COVID-19 increase becoming worrisome
Watching the news about the daily increase of the novel coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria is becoming scary.
The figures of death toll in Italy, Spain, US and other parts of the western world must not be allowed to happen in our beloved country. “We have started to see early signs of community transmission of #COVID19Nigeria” @NCDCgov.
Just today Thursday April 2, the NCDC’s update brings the total confirmed cases to 184, discharged 20 and total deaths 2. This is alarming.
The lockdown order from the federal government in Lagos, Ogun and FCT is quite commendable. It will check, to a large extent, community-to-community and person-to-person transmission of the virus.
But that alone will not send the virus away. We as a people need to play our own role by adopting social distancing and maintaining a high level of personal hygiene as advised by relevant authorities.
